The American Club
From five-star lodging and spa experiences to world-class golf and outdoor adventures, there’s no other place like it in America.
Kohler Co. was founded in 1873 by John Michael Kohler amidst a financial panic. Sixty-eight railroads went bankrupt that year. Kohler survived because it consistently focused on leading edge design and a single level of quality. Its first bathtub was made from a horse trough/hogscalder. It created a garden community at the factory gate based on a 50-year Master Plan because Walter Kohler believed "workers deserved not only wages, but roses as well." The centerpiece of that Plan was a dormitory for European immigrants called The American Club.
It's inhabitants were given lessons in the English language and American citizenship. In 1979, young Herb Kohler, Jr., chairman and president of the company, went to his Board of Directors of this privately held firm to seek approval to create a boutique resort hotel. The Board turned him down twice, but finally gave in saying "he couldn't lose that much money."
Today, the Club is a thriving 5 Star 5 Diamond resort hotel on the National Register of Historic Places.

Tuesday Evening Group Dinner
River Wildlife Restaurant
River Wildlife’s Lodge Restaurant is a private, rustic log cabin bordering over 500 acres of hardwood, Wisconsin wilderness.
The six cozy and inviting dining areas include three intimate lofts that feature an eclectic mix of primitive wood furnishings, a fieldstone fireplace on display in the entry way, earthenware place settings, and fresh wildflowers. The imaginative and ever-changing menu features fresh, seasonal Midwestern fare, showcasing ingredients such as walleye, pheasant, and duck. Service is warm and gracious yet professional in its attention to detail and anticipation of guests’ needs.

Golf at Whistling Straits
Embark on the irresistible challenge of playing where the champions play. Home of four majors and the 43rd Ryder Cup, the Straits and Irish are world-renowned settings of legendary triumphs.
Host to major championships and the 43rd Ryder Cup, the Straits is defined by its windswept links carved along two miles of rugged Lake Michigan coastline. A walking-only course rooted in the timeless traditions of the game, this is golf as it is meant to be played.
An ode to the raw freshness of Ireland, these Pete Dye-designed lakefront courses captivate with wild, windswept scenery (and cameos from the resident Scottish Blackface sheep).
“Naah, this course is popcorn! But, sometimes people choke on popcorn.”
- PETE DYE
